Excel for the Mac

I do not use a Mac, so I'm don't know for sure how the ToolPac for the Mac works. However, here are some options you can try. (I welcome your comments about how helpful this is.)

Excel for Mac Prior to 2010

If your version is earlier than 2011, check to see if the command, Data Analysis, is available on the Tools menu in Excel.

If the Data Analysis command is unavailable on the Tools menu, then you must install and load it following these steps:

On the Tools menu, click Add-Ins.

Select the Analysis ToolPak check box, and then click OK.

An alternative if the formula is in the first cell of a column: • Select the entire column by clicking the column header or selecting any cell in the column and pressing CTRL+ SPACE • Fill down by pressing CTRL+ D. If the formula already exists in a cell you can fill it down as follows: • Select the cell containing the formula and press CTRL+ SHIFT+ DOWN to select the rest of the column ( CTRL+ SHIFT+ END to select up to the last row where there is data) • Fill down by pressing CTRL+ D • Use CTRL+ UP to return up On Mac, use CMD instead of CTRL. Excel for mac add total row.

Note: If the Analysis ToolPak check box is not listed in the Add-Ins dialog box, you must use the Value Pack Installer to install the Analysis ToolPak. For more information about how to install Value Pack components,

A lot of Mac users knock for not being as pretty as Numbers on the Mac, but at the end of the day the hardcore Excel users care about one thing and that is functionality. If you’re looking for strong analytics tool that can easily calculate regressions, ANOVA, and other used by statisticians, then Excel with the StatPlus add-in is the solution for you. However if you’re coming from a Windows environment you will find that there is no add-in dialog that allows you to install the StatPlus normally found in Excel for Windows. That’s because Excel 2011 doesn’t ship with StatPlus, it requires a separate download and install from the makers of StatPlus.
